Origin: The white wine variety Moscato Giallo (Goldenmuskateller) comes from Italy. It is one of the many vines that belong to the large Muscat family. In 2017, the Goldenmuskateller was approved by the Bundessortenamt in Germany.

Interbreeding: The Goldenmuskateller is probably an outcross from the Yellow Muscat Blanc.

Characteristics: The white wine variety has a very vigorous growth, is susceptible to chlorosis and black spot disease. Compared to the Muscat Blanc, the Goldenmuskateller proves to be somewhat more rot-resistant, as the grape is looser and the berry skin thicker. The ripeness is about 10 days later than with the Muscat Blanc and the yields are high.

Grape: The grape is elongated and has large, round, golden-yellow berries. The taste of the grape is sweet and reminiscent of Muscat.

Wine: The wine can be vinified sec or with residual sweetness and is also suitable for sparkling wines. The muscat flavour is very similar to that of the Muscat Blanc, the wines made from Goldenmuskateller have more acidity.

Cultivation: Due to its late ripeness, the variety needs very good vineyard sites. Thinning is usually necessary.
