Our company
The roots of our vine nursery go back to 1937, when Anton Kiefer grafted the first vines for his own use. The passion for viticulture was passed on to the next generation of the Kiefer family. In 1965, Josef Kiefer integrated vine grafting as a permanent branch of the business into the existing wine and fruit growing enterprise. He recognised the market for grafted vines in Baden, a wine-growing region with a great tradition and numerous awards.
To secure the future and succession of the business, the Kiefers brought Ralf Sester into the company in 1997. Together they founded Kiefer & Sester GbR, which Ralf's wife Simone Sester joined two years later. In 2007, Ralf and Simone Sester took over the business and have since successfully developed the company.
Our dedicated team plays a crucial role in our company. Klemens Litterst assists with customer support and grapevine sales, while Thomas Müller and Martin Fiess are mainly involved in field operations. In addition, we employ twelve permanent Polish staff throughout the year to support us in our day-to-day business. During the main season from April to June, we expand our team and employ numerous Polish and Romanian staff together with our other branch of the business, the strawberry production in sheltered cultivation.
The future of our vine nursery is promising and secure. The children Paul, Jule and Leni have grown up with the farm and show great interest in continuing and developing the business. We are doing everything we can to make our business fit for the future, so that the tradition and quality of our vine nursery can be continued in the generations to come.
