Origin: The table grape Nero is a new hybrid between Eger 2 (Villard Blanc) x Gárdonyi Géza. The interbreeding of the hybrid was done in 1965 by the breeder József Csizmazia in Hungary.

Characteristics: The dark blue variety Nero has a medium to strong growth and produces medium to high yields. In addition, Nero has a medium to good resistance to powdery mildew and downy mildew, but also a very good wood maturity and winter frost hardiness. The ripeness takes place between the end of August and mid-September. The variety is also very suitable for grape juice production.

Grape: The grapes are medium sized. The loose oval berries are dark blue, crunchy, sweet and very tasty.

Cultivation: Nero is suitable for all locations. Due to the early ripeness and very good winter frost hardiness, cultivation in colder climates is also possible.
