Origin: The fungus-resistant Pinotin grape variety was bred in 1991 by the Swiss grape breeder Valentin Blattner in the Palatinate.

Interbreeding: Initially, an interbreeding between Pinot Noir and resistance partners was described. In a genetic pedigree analysis, Cabernet Sauvignon and Regent were found to be the parents.

Characteristics: Ripeness is reached around mid to late September. Healthy grapes can be harvested later without any problems. The growth is rather weak, therefore a strong growing rootstock should be used. Since the bud burst is relatively late, there is little danger of late frosts. The vine is not very sensitive to winter frosts.

Downy mildew: niedrig mittel high sehr hoch

Powdery mildew: niedrig mittel hoch very high

Botrytis: niedrig mittel hoch very high

Grape: Narrow, long, very loose-berried and rarely shouldered grape. The berries are medium-sized, round and uniformly covered with a layer of wax. Due to the loose grape stem, they color very early. Ripeness is reached around mid to late September. 

Wine: Pinotin wine is characterized by a strong ruby red color. The aroma is reminiscent of black cherries. In the taste it can convince by its mild, warm kind and reminds of its namesake, the Pinot Noir.
